How to get to Lublin

Lublin, located in eastern Poland, is well connected to the rest of the country and Europe thanks to its airport. The city is also about 170 km south-east of Warsaw, which has two airports.

Lublin Airport

Lublin Airport (LUZ) is the main air access point to the city. Located about 10 km east of the city centre, the airport offers connections to many European cities. To reach the city centre from the airport, you can take bus number 5, which connects the airport to the city centre in about 45 minutes. This is certainly the cheapest option.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi or a shared transfer, the journey takes about 20-25 minutes and prices are regulated.

By train

Lublin is well connected to the Polish railway network. Direct trains connect the city with major Polish metropolises such as Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk and Wroclaw. Lublin’s main train station is located a short distance from the city centre and is well served by local public transport.

By car

If you prefer to drive, Lublin is easily accessible via the Polish motorway network. The S17 motorway connects the city to Warsaw, while the S12 and S19 offer connections to other major cities in eastern Poland. Bear in mind that some roads may be subject to tolls.

Kazimierz Dolny

Located about 55 km from Lublin, Kazimierz Dolny is famous for its well-preserved Renaissance architecture, art galleries and bohemian atmosphere. The historical centre is an architectural gem, with the market square surrounded by Renaissance houses.

Don’t miss the climb to the Three Crosses Mountain for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Vistula Valley. Kazimierz Dolny is also an excellent starting point for excursions into the surrounding nature or for a river cruise.

Janowiec

On the opposite bank of the Vistula from Kazimierz Dolny lies Janowiec, a small village dominated by the ruins of an impressive Renaissance castle. The castle, partially restored, offers a spectacular view of the Vistula Valley and Kazimierz Dolny. The Castle Museum tells the story of the fortress and the noble Firlej family. In the summer months, the castle hosts cultural events and historical re-enactments.

Roztocze National Park

About 90 km south of Lublin is the Roztocze National Park, a natural paradise offering breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity. The park is characterised by forested hills, crystal-clear rivers and flower-filled meadows.

Just 35 km from Lublin is the Zamoyski Palace in Kozłówka, one of the best-preserved Baroque palace complexes in Europe. This sumptuous 18th-century palace, often called the ‘Polish Versailles’, houses a museum with richly decorated interiors and an extensive art collection.

The French-style gardens surrounding the palace are perfect for a relaxing stroll. The palace also houses a curious collection of socialist realist art in its ‘Museum of Socialism’.

Nałęczów

Situated about 30 km from Lublin, Nałęczów is a renowned spa town with a long tradition of healing and wellness. The city is famous for its unique microclimate, which is particularly beneficial for heart disease.

Białowieża Primordial Forest

Although a longer excursion (about 250 km from Lublin), the Białowieża Primordial Forest deserves special mention. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the last virgin lowland forest in Europe and is home to the largest population of European bison in the wild.

A guided tour of the strictly protected area will allow you to see centuries-old trees and unique biodiversity. The National Park Education Centre and the Nature and Forest Museum offer interesting insights into the forest ecosystem.
